Thinking about trying to make something to fit to the tow bar bracket of the van, that way I can limit the amount of metalwork by not having to make the part that sits on the floor ( I'll probably do that later for the shed, but won't have to carry it around in the van). This way it should be steadier and under the cover of the bootlid anyway. Only downer (I can think of) is not being able to look down the chain line from behind to align the rear wheel.
With an RT2 think I have to mount it off the frame bobbins near the rear of the frame so wouldn't be able to have the back end of the bike away from the van.
As I lost a bobbin at Whilton last time I have thrown some old mountain bike nylon rollers on from a chain device. They have bearings in them now so actually roll if it hits the deck, anyone think this is a bad idea? May take longer to come to a stop but shouldn't wear out so quickly.
Darren, watched your vid on the weekend with the super in your old bike, didn't seem to have clutch trouble then, looked well quick. I can see where I am taking different lines so will try some of yours next time. I think I'm trying to ride it like a geared bike, straighter on the brakes and turning in later (you know slow in fast out, but without the fast out bit). You and the others on the days are turning in earlier with more radius and holding the corner speed. My problem with that will be staying on the track on the exit!
Cheers Scotty

just try and carry as much corner speed as possable mukka, when i got the 4.2 it showed me the way so to speek, as they turn so quick but no power, so they teach you not to brake if so brake so late but not right down to speed then use the angle to scrub off the rest of the speed if need be on the exit or drag the rear brake, and to use all of the track and the curbs lol to get more radius, couple that then when on the super and you got the power to get out the bends it gets you going, but keep the rear brake covered, as a bump on the super when u on full tilt and on the gas can make u head for the tyres in a blink of an eye.

Super just out and out arm acher lol was in bits after whilton, the 4.2 is just pure fun pitty i could not take it to whilton...

hope to get up to kinsham this time never been...never mind llandow soon enough anyway.

Your m8 going to come racing and yourself?

scotty4321- 01-22-2008
Weight and turning wise mine should be like a 4.2 with maybe more power approx 7-8bhp or something like that. Haven't got the cooling gubbins being aircooled but it has a proddy pipe and a 90 jet! Don't think it is a bad bike to learn on the power with a 7 on the front is very smooth, so much so that there isn't much of a power band to catch you out. The polini 6.2 watercooled in comparison has much narrower power. A super would be too much for me right now! That one lad at Whilto was wheelying the whole of the start finish straight and putting the wheel down for the first left. I would be on my ar*e
Just need more time on the track I think but will try the different lines and see what happens. If I can speed up a little I will be able to follow people for longer and it will come.
The other problem is that I am just not flexible enough, I struggle to get my feet on the pegs without rubbing on the floor. Need to stretch my hamstrings and butt so I can lean forward more as well, when I get tired I kind of ride the back end which can't be good. Side to side I'm Ok and can hang off if I want.
I am going to do some of the closer rounds and see how it goes. If I'm just on my own going around and don't improve quickly I'll just do the fun days.
If Chris buys a GRC like he wants I think he will race, although he would be in a different class, he weighs like 2 crisp packets and I'm 14 stone, plus I doubt he will have the same engine and will be worse off than me if he goes straight to proddy. Think he would be best to have a 4.2 polini motor, make the reed mods and run a 6.2 pipe in the aircooled A's. Think he is undecided on a decent road racing bike so we'll have to see.
Have emailed the MMRA asking about forms and stuff, are they always slow getting going in the new year? All the stickys on the forums are out of date, their website has 2006 stuff still on it. When I looked a week or so back I was one of the first people in 2008 to go to their site so they can't get many hits. Any idea when the forms normally come out and what do you do about a number, can you try to keep what you have or are they issued to you? Cheers Scotty

yea aircooled rock as the ower centre of gravity and less weight, well im like 16 stone with all me kit on and on a 4.2 well its got a hard life lol.

yes the british very slow more so this year, as for numbers if you book a full year in you get to keep your number, first come basis, or you can do single rounds and pay £10 extra as a weekend member, and then if you get there first then you keep your number, but there is a chance your number is gone.

nothing a little duct tape cant sort out to get you diff numbers lol.

well i get some praccy in and see how things go init, if you thought you wasn't going to win first time out well you wouldent bother would you, but you gotta start someware mukka...

I can see you really enjoy minimoto racing and the atmosphere scotty. My advice is to get stuck into the british, at treat it as a step forward or a learning curve. I went straight into the british after 5-6 months riding i think. If you enjoy the atmosphere from the average trackday. Check out the british! The paddock is absolutely full of keen friendly riders, campers, race vans, you know it. Ive enjoyed every bit of the 2 race seasons in the british championships, great laughs mmcwales/smilie_c_32.gif mmcwales/smilie_n_32.gif mmcwales/41.gif

should see carver on race meetings, in stictches legand laugh.gif

meecham- 01-24-2008
smile.gif well said james i dont ace the british but go and take picz there
and as said the atmosphere is amazinggg
especially with carver lol

scotty4321- 01-24-2008
Sure I'm going to have a go at some of it. A big project in work may have gone down the pan so that may take a load off and keep the weekends a bit more open.
Bit too keen at the moment, not enough opportunities to go so getting fed up. Probably sell the road bike and use the some/all of the money to cover the racing, i don't get out on it much and won't find the time for both.
British would be best from track point of view although I'm not sure on the numbers in the aircooled class, the rules are more open for the southerns and so they may get more aircooled there. Just have to see who turns up at Llandow on the first one. Wish I was a bit lighter too, giving a bit away (although not as much as Darren)!
I did see a post somewhere about mister carver, rode the ass of his bike to win the season or something with an injury? Cheers Scotty

meecham- 01-24-2008

Darren, the kids are being cheeky but I reckon there's nothing wrong with a handicap system.
Fit all the light weights out with top boxes and fill them with spuds until everyone weighs the same. See how quick they go then hey!
Plus the whipper snappers who can actually get down on the tank out the wind should have a scaffolding plank shoved down their back into their trousers so they are bolt upright like me.
Another one is the lads who can put their knee inside their arms, whats that about. They should be made to take fast aging tablets or have arthritis injections!
A level playing field is the only fair way to go.
Hope you get the bikes sorted, long way to go! Don't like MMR then.
Haven't been on the mountain bike for a while, a few guys in work are up for it when it warms up a bit so that should help.
Haven't broken a bone yet but collar bones are supposed to be painfull, so that is a bit of a result. Cheers Scotty
